The castle stands on the small hill above the town of Idrija and is visible from the central town square a 5-minute walk away. Climb up the stairs to the castle from the front side or continue along the road to the rear entrance. There are a few parking spots available for passenger cars. We recommend busses park at the bus station, around 10 minutes walk from the castle.

Idrija “Kamšt”

You can visit the Idrija “Kamšt” when accompanied by a museum guide arranged at Gewerkenegg Castle reception. After you take a walk through the city centre on the street of Lapajnetova ulica to the Post Office building next to the bus station where you turn right and continue along the street of Vodnikova ulica, passing the sports facilities, the Mesto hydroelectric plant, and follow the road along the Idrijca River. After about a 5-minute walk, the building of the Idrija “Kamšt” wheel is in front of you.
Scheduled groups can meet the museum guide at the bus station or at the location. Idrija “Kamšt” is about a 10-minute walk from the bus station.
Cerkno Museum

The Cerkno Museum is located at the former court building in the centre of Cerkno, at the intersection of Bevkova ulica and Platiševa ulica. Walk up the stairs at the intersection to the entrance. You can park right at the museum on weekends, but must find a parking space in other carparks during the week. The parking place we recommend for buses is approx. 300m away next to the fire station. Passengers can get off the bus at the museum and the driver will find a parking space.
Idrija Miner’s House

You can visit the house when accompanied by a museum guide arranged at Gewerkenegg Castle reception. After a walk through the city centre, you come to Rožna ulica street, then to Aumeški Square (Aumeški trg), where you turn left to the hill. After a 3-minute walk, the Idrija Miner’s House is right in front of you. The technical department of the museum in the Francis’ Shaft is nearby.
Scheduled groups can meet the museum guide at the location there. The house is about a 5-minute walk from the bus station.
Homestead of the writer France Bevk

Zakojca is located on the northern slope of the 1,303m high Mount Kojca. It is accessible from the Bača Valley (Grahovo, Hudajužna) or from the Idrijca river valley (Reka). A shorter and steeper road takes you from the Cerkno direction, from Reka over Bukovo, and the longer road through Cerkno and its picturesque villages. The guide who takes you around the homestead is the guide from Pri Flandru in Zakojca or from the Cerkno Museum, so advance announcement is mandatory for the groups, and desired for individuals. The carpark is at the centre of the village next to the tourist farm and is about a 15-minute walk away.
Slovenija Partisan Printing Shop

The easiest access to the Slovenija Partisan Printing Shop is along the 14km road from Idrija to Vojsko, with two trails leading to it. The first goes towards Vojščica (the partisan graveyard from 1945), the exit for the printing shop is after less than 2km of driving. The trail is also suitable for buses. From the carpark to the printing shop, there is about 20 minutes of steep downhill footpath. The second trail takes you from Vojsko towards the homestead at Hum. Go left at the first turn under the homestead to the forest road that brings you out under the printing shop. Then, there is a little over 5 minutes walking uphill. This trail is suitable for passenger cars only. We recommend you wear suitable footwear (trainers, hiking shoes). This trail is not advised for persons with physical disabilities.
