Dear teachers, professors and mentors, welcome to the Idrija Municipal Museum! We present the museum programme contents for the 2023/2024 academic year. We regularly carry out over 20 different programmes for various type of groups, paying the most attention to schoolchildren. We want to bring the school contents closer to the young people and complement them in a different and dynamic way, and thus contribute to the overall cultural view of our young people.
School programmes
You can choose exhibition tours with a guide, which offer a general overview of selected topics, and learn details during museum lessons with a curator about selected content highlights (such as mercury properties, mining technical heritage or ethnological special features, such as Idrija lace, Idrija meat-filled dumplings called “žlikrofi” or the runners of Cerkno).
The museum lessons stimulate thinking and reasoning in a relaxed and fun way, as the visitors learn about the content through their active participation and practical work. The most creative and playful complementarity of knowledge is offered by museum workshops.
The programmes are carried out by professionally trained guides and museum curators. Many areas of content complement each other, thus being an excellent starting point for the implementation of natural-science, cultural and technical trips.
If you choose a combination of three areas of content, the cheapest one is free of charge. Accessing local frameworks of content and specially designed programmes suitable for the implementation of the secondary-school optional content.
The varied programmes of individual content sets are further presented with all the details about the content, duration, appropriate age, connections with the school curriculum and the price.
